Rebecca Wilson

Rebecca was educated in law at the University of Sydney and was called to the Bar in 2021. She practises in a broad range of civil law areas. 

 

Since being called to the Bar, Rebecca has appeared regularly in the Major Complex Financial Proceedings List of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, acting on behalf of both individuals and corporate entities. She has expertise in Federal and State commercial and corporate law matters. Rebecca’s advisory practice includes assisting parties to respond to requests for information and claims of privilege.

 

Prior to being called to the Bar, Rebecca worked as a Judge’s Associate in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia (now known as the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia). In this role, she dealt with complex family law matters involving allegations of violence, child abuse, international abduction, property disputes and urgent interlocutory hearings.

  

Rebecca has extensive legal research experience and has been involved in law reform projects with the NSW Bar Association and with Sydney University's law faculty. She has also provided legal research and policy drafting for a Member of the Legislative Council (Parliament of NSW).

 

Rebecca has participated in Sydney University’s Social Justice Mentoring Program and has provided pro bono legal assistance to animal rescue and animal rights groups. She has participated in the NSW Bar Association’s Duty Barrister Scheme. She is a member of Australian Lawyers for Human Rights and is in the ALHR’s Women and Girls’ Subcommittee working group.

 

In addition to her legal qualifications, Rebecca holds a Master of Arts (Art History and Theory) from the University of Sydney. Prior to commencing her legal career, she worked as a curator and art historian in several museums and galleries in Europe and New York City, including the Peggy Guggenheim Collection (Venice, Italy).
